The Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) has teamed up with Drip Learning Technologies, LLC (drip.vet) to deliver an affordable continuing education solution to fulfill the legislative requirement for continuing education related to opioid abuse and controlled substance diversion, inventory and security.

Texas veterinarians are required to complete two hours of opioid CE every two years under the terms of SB 1947, which took effect in September 2019.

Lance Roasa, DVM, MS, JD
Dr. Lance M. Roasa is a 2008 graduate of Texas A&M where he was the first student to undertake a 4th year business-track, spending the majority of his clinical training in veterinary business and industry. In 2016 He completed a law degree from the University of Nebraska and his training was centered on the law of small business, taxation and the law of veterinary medicine.

Drew Olson, DVM
A 2012 Iowa State Veterinary College graduate, Dr. Drew Olson has practiced in small and large animal clinics and has considerable experience in the veterinary compounding medicine industry. An Omaha native, he is regarded as one of the nation’s leading veterinarians in compounding specialized veterinary medications. Be sure and ask Dr. Olson about his experience with retired circus elephants or his participation as a veterinary student in Frontier Vets, a documentary filmed in the remote region of Kruger Park in South Africa. Drew resides in Omaha with his wife, Karin, and their daughter Olive. They enjoy spending time with friends, family, and their rescue dog, Faith.

Christopher G. Byers, DVM, DACVECC, DACVIM
Dr. Christopher G. Byers received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, as well as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in small animal internal medicine. As a clinician, educator, and recognized speaker, he embraces and strongly recommends appropriate multimodal analgesia to provide superior pain relief and minimize opioid use and opioid-related adverse events.

Stephen Kellner
Mr. Stephen Kellner is the paralegal for the Roasa Law Group and program administrator for Opioid 411. He provides the legal research necessary to stay up to date on the ever-changing legislation and subsequent state board requirements on this topic.
